The Roncesvalles Village neighbourhood, originally known as 'Howard Park', was annexed into Toronto in the 1880s. While the neighbourhood is very diverse, attracting people from all backgrounds, it is well known as the centre of the Polish community in Toronto, with prominent Polish institutions, businesses, shops, restaurants and St Casimir's Catholic Church located on Roncesvalles Avenue. The businesses along Roncesvalles have formed the Roncesvalles Village Business Improvement Area and hold an annual Polish Festival.

With High Park on its western boundary and Toronto waterfront parkland to the south, Roncesvalles Village has developed into a popular family neighbourhood. Homes in the Roncesvalles Village neighbourhood were built mainly in the late 1800’s and early 1900’s, and are mostly of Victorian, Edwardian and Tudor architecture. These homes vary in size from modest semi-detached and attached houses to large mansions.

The Roncesvalles Village neighbourhood is served by five TTC streetcar lines as well as the Dundas West subway station at the northern end of the neighbourhood.
